This is one of the riskiest platforms out there. You make a mistake and out goes your order - no confirmation before send. Also, takes forever to get someone to talk to.

My experience with SpeedTrader has been awesome. I get fast executions and that is exactly what I need when I'm trading in and out of fast moving stocks all day. Customer service is very friendly and really knows what they are talking about. Big Fan.

Cons:
I tried the speedtrader platform recently with their 1 week trial to see what the DAS software was all about. I understand why people like it so much: easy and fast executions with a few clicks. From what many have told me, they are great for OTC's and the execution is fast, key especially with these stocks. The only thing that stopped me from opening with them is they clear through penson (same as TOS) and their borrows are limited, if not pathetic.
Other than that, seems like a well rounded tool

I have been trading with Speedtrader for 3 years now. I have traded with several other brokers but what I like about Speedtrader and separate them for the rest is that they are geniunely nice people. They care about their traders. Most firms don't really care who you are or whether you make or lose money. Speedtrader is different. They have fast executions, great software and really understanding people working for them. I can't say that much about most other brokerage firms. In my book, they are rated 5 thumbs up!

Pros:
Free streaming real-time Level I or Level II quotes
Cons:
Steep software fees.Very demanding volume requirements to get lower commissions.
SpeedTrader brokerage targets mostly very active traders and the more you trade the lower commissions you will get. Unfortunately to get $2.95 per trade rate you will need to make over 1,500 trades per month which is beyond most investors means. Optionshouse offers the same $2.95 commission with no conditions attached.
SpeedTrader has 3 professional trading platforms with just about everything a day-trader might need.
SpeedTrader is definitely not the right choice for beginner investors. Because of annual $35 IRA maintenance fee and $25 IRA set-up fee we can't recommend it for a retirement account. There are much better IRA brokers that don't charge any fees.
Only very active traders will be happy with SpeedTrader services.

Pros:
Cons:
Speedtrader was by far the best of the 4 different brokers I used for the past year on otcbb stocks with many routes and the DAS software. Fortunately for me I had never had to use their customer service to resolve any issues.
However starting at the beginning of 2010 that all changed, I have been unable to fill much of anything in the first 30 minutes of trading which is usually one of my most profitable time frames of the day. The feed has gone down numerous times without warning and without any notification or mention from the company. I have spoken with the reps and although courteous they are not very helpful and the operations manager is one of the most obnoxious people I have ever dealt with in my 10 years of trading. Two thumbs down for speedtrader.

Pros:
Cons:
Speed is what you get. The executions are fast, although the commissions are higher than comparable brokers. The customer service is average, from what I have experienced. Overall a good value and worth a look at when opening an account.
