Zecco Trading Reviews

Pros: Online community

Cons: Cancelled free trades

Who $250K+ would invest in Elite Premium Service without free trades?
I will admit that I love their online community.
They need to extend their DRIP service to include REITs.

Pros: Low fees, virtual trading environment, free dividend reinvestment

Cons: No extended hours trading, $2 per trade surcharge on penny stocks

Zecco doesn't have account maintenance and inactivity fees. The firm offers its customers free dividend reinvestment.
However, we would love to see the company to finally start offering extended hours trading, provide order modification feature
and to cancel its $30 annual IRA fee.

Zecco Trading's virtual trading feature provides a safe environment to test and improve trading skills and strategies.
Coupled with the helpful online community where users could learn from each other, Zecco shines as one of the
best brokerages for beginners.

Pros: none

Cons: change their terms at customer expense, of course

I transferred a substantial amount of money to them from another broker to take advantage of their 10 free trades per month for a balance over $50k. Even though their IRA was $30/year, my previous broker was free, with the free trades, I still should have came out ahead.

Well, now that they have done away with free trades, there is absolutely no advantage to Zecco anymore. I plan to switch back to my previous broker, who only charges $2.95 per trade and no IRA fee. However, I am now stuck paying the $50 acat fee and $30 IRA closing fee...total of $80. They changed their terms, now I'm stuck with an $80 charge.

My other broker also raised their trades by $1, to $3.95/trade. However, they grandfathered in all current customers to the old fee structure of $2.95. Now that is a good policy that makes sense and will retain customers.

I wouldn't recommend Zecco to anybody. Find a broker who will treat you right, even if they decide to change their terms.

Pros: Soon to be bankrupt

Cons: bait and switch, stolen money, lies and outright fraud

They did a bait and switch like nothing I've ever seen. I signed up getting 10 free trades a month for having $25,000 in my account. It was a poor platform, horrible customer service, and they even seemed to be skimming off the different on limit trades. However then they eliminated their previous price structure and forced everyone to pay 4.95 per trade! They refused to do JRT transfers to other Penson brokers and violated their contract. This company should be sued till they're gone. Everyone that has had this experience should report them to the BBB and the FTC. Most of the reviews here were written before Zecco's true colors showed.

Pros: none anymore

Cons: high costs, bad platform, excessive fees, unethical business

The reviews posted here before March 2011 should be disregarded. Zecco has since pulled off a major bait and switch and is attempting to extort money out of their customers by holding their equities at a $50 ransom. What they did was jack up their trading costs while not waiving their ACAT fee leaving customers to either pay to trade out all of their stocks or pay their $50 ACAT fee. This is incredibly unethical and I hope enough of us can get together to sue them and shut down this terrible business.

Pros: lower cost

Cons: KEEP CHANGING THE TERMS

I have traded there several years and the rules keep changing. First it was free trading, then the price went up to $4.50 and 10 free trades a month. Now, no free trades and the price is up again to $4.95. The new pricing will cost me $600. or more a year. With 10 or so trades a month I could keep about $350. of my money if I go to Just2Trade. Or all of it with a qualifying Wells or Merrill Edge account.

Pros:

Cons:

I have been extremely satisfied with Zecco until they announced that they are eliminating free stock trades and instead will charge $4.95 per trade starting April 1st, 2011. Now the salt has lost its savor, I plan to switch to Just2Trade, which only charges $2.50/trade, half what Zecco charges.

Pros:

Cons:

I have tried eTrade (good) and Schwab (a mess) in the past and Zecco is by far the easiest site to use and the most user friendly site. I have enough issues trading and investing, I don't want my site to a be a challenge to. I like the "social" atmosphere of it and while I am sure I will keep trying other sites, I am really happy with Zecco for now.

Pros: 10 Free trades, $4.50 trade fee

Cons:

With the exception of very busy market times when you get booted out of their site or the screen freezes, I have had flawless execution of trades. I've always received a quick response on service from their 800 number.

The $4.50 trade fee is among the lowest in the market and if you have over $25,000 in the account you can get 10 free trades per month. I do not trade options or on a margin. They do have an annual fee of $30 per account.

I think their interface is pretty simple to use and am a long time computer user. I have been using Zecco and Scott Trade for about 2 years. Yes, and even made money during that time period. Who'd think!

Pros:

Cons:

Zecco.com is an American online investor portal. Zecco stands for "Zero Commission Cost". Zecco's stated philosophy was to eliminate commission fees. Zecco was among the first online investing websites that allowed for any trades without a commission. Currently, Zecco Trading allows for ten free trades a month. However, Zecco requires a minimum balance of $25,000 to be able to receive the 10 free trades. If that balance is not met, or the 10 trades are exceeded, the price is $4.50.

Pros:

Cons:

I've had a Zecco account for about 5 months now and have had nothing but good experiences. The site is easy to navigate and the emails about account information are really nice, you always know how your investments are doing. I would recommend it to anybody else who's a casual trader who does not make a lot of trades per month (long term investors) and the ZERO commission trading is great. All you need is a minimum of $2,500 to start a account. Zecco is a great investment site.

Pros: 10 Free trades

Cons: Sometimes has downtime

Zecco —

Zecco is an online brokerage that I have been using for the past year. The greatest thing about it: 10 Free trades a month, so long as you have $2000 in cash/stock in your account. I believe this is the only online brokerage that does this.

However, there is one downside to this brokerage. At times, I have experienced trouble accessing my account, probably because too many people are trying to access Zecco at once. So if you are a serious trader, or a day trader, you might want to choose a more reputable online brokerage that will be free of any downtime.

But if you are just an average investor and invest for fun and small gains, then Zecco is great for the no comission.

Pros:

Cons:

I've used several different brokers in my career and I am happy with Zecco. There are some annoying advertisements but the 10 free trades a month more than make up for that. I have found that their executions to be fairly fast. During the recent market upheaval, I can remember only two days where their site was down. I understand that even that is too often for some traders. I also know that they have beefed up their server capacity and since the upgrade I have no longer had any 'blackout dates'.

The customer service is quick, but the web site is pretty bare bones. I do use another broker for charting and streaming quotes so I can not comment on the products they offer for sale.
